SAMMY HAGAR, MÖTLEY CRÜE, BUCKCHERRY Rumored For ROCKLAHOMA

March 8, 2008

According to MetalSucks, the same anonymous tipster close to the Rocklahoma negotiations who correctly informed the site that EXTREME, TESLA, KIX and many others would be announced for this summer's festival has just alerted MetalSucks that Sammy Hagar will be filling the final Friday (July 11) spot at this year's event. No word on whether ex-VAN HALEN and THE OTHER HALF bassist Michael Anthony will be playing with him or not. In addition, MÖTLEY CRÜE, BUCKCHERRY, and DROWNING POOL will reportedly be teaming up for a U.S. summer tour, and the package is expected to be making a stop at Rocklahoma to fill the remaining empty Sunday (July 13) slots. It should be noted, however, that none of this information has been officially confirmed and should be treated as a rumor only.

Photographer Jeff Findley has posted a seven-page gallery of pictures from the Rocklahoma 2008 press conference, which took place this past Tuesday (March 4) at the world-famous Whisky A Go-Go. Attending the event was POISON frontman Bret Michaels along with members of L.A. GUNS (Tracii Guns version),JETBOY, KIX, BLACK 'N BLUE, WARRANT and ARMORED SAINT.

This year's Rocklahoma will be held July 10-13, 2008 at the Catch The Fever Festival Grounds, four miles north of Pryor, Oklahoma. WARRANT, TRIUMPH and EXTREME are among the bands reuniting with all or most of their original lineups for the festival, which will also feature sets from NIGHT RANGER, CINDERELLA, Bret Michaels, TESLA, ARMORED SAINT, L.A. GUNS and many more. More than 85 bands in all will perform on three giant stages throughout the four days with several more big names to be added in the coming weeks.

Bret Michaels recently talked to The Pulse of Radio about his experience at the 2007 Rocklahoma festival. "Rocklahoma's an awesome event, and we had such an amazing time last year," he said. "Great summer party, and here's what was killer about it: every fan came from all over the United States, Canada, the world, basically...And to look out there at thousands and thousands of fans having an awesome time and a party...That's what this event is about. It's about the celebration of music."

Regarding playing with his solo band as opposed to POISON at the 2008 Rocklahoma festival, Michaels told The Pulse of Radio, "My solo show is a big, pyro-energized 'Storytellers'. In between the songs I get to tell the fans what I was thinkin', why I wrote it... But we keep the energy up, big explosions, big excitement. And it's going to play out there so that people feel like they're in a living room with 40,000 people in it."
